It has been a while since my last blog post. Unfortunately I had a flu last week. Luckily I started to feel better soon, so I still have some things to share with you. I did some awesome shoots this week. One of them was on this beautiful beach. The weather was really  good so that made it even more perfect!

I also did a lot of castings again this week. One day I passed by the University of Sydney on my way to a casting. It was in a wonderful old building so I decided to take a look. It really made me think of Hogwarts.

Sunday was just relaxed at the beach, that’s what Sunday’s are for right! This week was actually not that busy as other weeks. It’s almost the end of the month and now most of the companies are shooting their collection/campaigns or commercials.

Lights, camera, ACTION! – By Cynthia Baremans

selfieIt’s fridaaaaayy! Last weekend I went to the Old Biscuit Mill with some of my housemates, which was really nice! At this market they sell all kinds of food, so we had a delicious breakfast there. The rest of the weekend we relaxed and on Sunday I had another casting for PUMA.

On Monday I had a meeting at the agency. There was an agency from Hamburg who is scouting for new models. There are more agencies from other countries who come here to scout. It was just a quick meeting, show her my book and she made a few pictures.

In the evening I got a call from my agency that I was booked for the new PUMA campaign!!! For Tuesday and Wednesday, I was sooooo excited!! I couldn’t believe I actually booked the job, during the casting there were so many models. I guess hard work pays off.

Cosmo-Girl by Cynthia Baremans

Hi everyone,

Another week passed by in Cape Town, time to enjoy the weekend now!

My week started great with my shooting for Cosmopolitan magazine! Although I was a little nervous, because the shoot was for colored contact lenses. During the casting they asked me if I have a problem wearing contacts, of course I said confidently “no problem!” To be honest I never tried! So on Sunday I asked one of my housemates who actually wears contacts, to show me how it works. It looked so easy.. Until I tried!! First I couldn’t get the contact in, once I got it in my eye.. I lost it! Eventually I got it out.. But I was a bit worried for the next day!

Monday morning I woke up early and arrived at the studio at 8:15 am. The photographer and the make-up artist arrived at the same time. There was one other woman who works for Cosmopolitan and one girl from New York who did the styling. We started immediately with make-up and hair while the photographer was preparing the lights in the studio, and the stylist was hanging up her clothes. The make-up and hair was really nice, just natural. The first shot was without contacts, so later you can see all the different looks in the magazine. It were all head shots, from the side and straight into the camera. Then we continued with the colored contacts, I had to wear 5 different colors. I don’t know how I managed it, but I got them in and out myself within a few seconds! Like I already do it for years!

It was really nice to see all the different colors. The make-up artist changed the make-up a few times, so I had a few different looks. The people were really nice and happy with the result! I’m excited to see all the pictures together in the magazine. It will be in the new April issue, which comes out in March.

Life in Capetown – By Cynthia

Hello again!

Last Friday we had such a fun night out in Cape Town, although I did need to recover for two days… And then it was Monday again! My Monday morning started dancing around in bikini during a commercial casting, just an ordinary day! Normally all the castings are in studios, inside, with a lot of people and I wait for a long time.. But on Tuesday I had a casting close to my house at a beautiful location: Clarendon guesthouse. Very comforting to wait around with a beautiful view.

Spotted! Jurian van Os

Today’s male model in the spotlight is Jurian van Os, model at Alpha Male Model Management. He is a 17 year old student, living in Tiel, The Netherlands. About 6 months ago Jurian got a message at Instagram from Yannick Kranstauber, owner of Alpha Male Model Management. He invited Jurian for an intake and testshoot. Probably Yannick was just as enthousiastic about Jurian’s unique look as we are, because about a week after that meeting, Jurian was represented by Alpha Male Model Management! A lucky number – By Cynthia

Hello again! My first full week in Cape Town has been really busy! Monday started with three castings. I’ll be talking a lot about castings in my blog, so let me explain what happens during these castings.
It depends for what it is, last week I had a lot of commercial castings. When you arrive at the casting you need to sign in with your name and then you get a number… And wait in line.
When your number is up, you go inside and you have to introduce yourself to the camera. You have to say your name, age and agency. Then the casting director will tell you what to do. Normally during a commercial casting you have to act. For example, last week I had a casting for KitKat (chocolate) and had to pretend I was on a rooftop with friends, having drinks and eating KitKat. I actually enjoy these castings, I like acting as well!photo
