Hi, Teddy Jansen! Can you introduce yourself to our Spotted Style followers?
Hi! My name is Teddy and I’m a pretty regular guy. I like partying and doing fun stuff with friends. Coming from a small town the last few years a lot had changed In my life. It all started at Models At Work. Models at work is a company specialized in Hosting and promotion jobs. I met all kinds of interesting people and a new world opened up for me. AMSTERDAM! In the third year of my study I decided to combine travelling and studying by going to Curacao for a minor, I lived there for half a year and it was one of the best times of my life. When I was back I came In contact with a few guys that organized parties in Amsterdam and I was able to do a project for them. After the project was done I kept working there and was part of an organization that was a big player in the Dutch dance-scene. While doing so I was asked if I would be interested to do some professional modelling. Being suggested by a friend to go to EVD Agency I went there, and that’s where my modeling started.
How long ago did you start modelling and did it change or influence your life in some way?
I already did some modeling when I was young, very young. 5 years old to be exact. I did some stuff for the Bijenkorf and some other magazines. After a while I stopped doing it because I was too busy with school. Now I picked it back up and been doing it for about a year and a half. Since then I’ve been traveling to Germany quite a few times. But I think the biggest influence it has had on my life is that I’ve been a lot more responsible. I started working as a freelancer, doing my own administration and marketing. Doing this has learned me a lot!
Have you travelled a lot because of modelling? Where and do you have a dream destination?
The most traveling I did was by train to Düsseldorf. But I’m planning to go Hamburg, Barcelona and Cape Town in the upcoming months! Cape Town has been in the top of my list for quite some time. I’ve bought a ticket just last week and I will be there for 3 months, starting January. Other destinations I would like to see are New-Zealand/Australia and North-America.
What is your favorite shoot/campaign or fashion show you have done?
I love working with kids. Lately I did a shoot for Aldi in Essen (Germany) with 4 kids. The energy they gave me made it one of my favorite shoots so far. I had to lift them up an throw them around and all they did was laugh. Amazing!
What does it take to be a successful in the modelling industry?
I think one of the most important thing is you have to stand out. Do something different than the rest. A nice example of this is a video I’ve made for an optional job, I made a very cool video especially for them. Not everybody may like it but in the end I think it will be in your advantage to do things a little different. Walk the extra mile! Another thing you can do is be pro-active. I always try to help on set for example by carrying stuff. Some clients are really surprised by that because not a lot of models do that, they’re too busy with their phone…
Can you tell us what is the thing that you love most about being a model?
Being able to travel and working at the same time. Seeing new places while doing something meaningful with your life. And of course , the money is nice as well 😉
Apart from modelling what are your hobbies and passions?
I know everybody says it but: doing fun stuff with the people I love. Making the most of my life and appreciate everyday you’re able to do so. I also like squash, I do it every week with my dad. This has made us real close, I see him more as a friend then as a parent. Football is also something I do on a weekly basis. Next to that I’m also quite a TV-show fanatic. There’s almost no show I haven’t seen.. NO LIFE.
Tell us a spicy fact that we may not know about you?
I’m quite the game enthusiast. I play Kolonisten van Catan almost every other week. But every game I might be able to win at, I’m down for. I’m quite competitive.
3songs from your current playlist?
Daryl Hall & John Oates – I Can’t Go For That
George Michael – Freedom ‘90
Chet Faker – Dead Body
What is fashion for you? If we spot you on the street what would you be wearing?
To be honest, I don’t care much for clothes and I certainly don’t spend much on it. Most of times you’ll see me with some old pair of all-stars, a normal pants and a shirt I got somewhere. It’s not that exciting but I choose to spend my money on travelling and drinks with friends!
What makes you happy and what makes you laugh?
The most euphoric moments I’ve had in my life where with my friends at parties I hosted. Being able to see all my friend together, friends from back in the day, new friends, friends from work, you name it! This is one of the reasons I host the most epic pancake parties every once I a while. I bake the pancakes, everybody else brings booze and we have the best nights!
How do you see life through your eyes?
Lately I noticed time passes by faster and faster, and it’s up to us to experience new thing to keep life interesting. I need to keep that in mind for the rest of my life! Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today!
What does the future hold for you?
This is always a hard question. I try to live in the moment as much as possible and do my best every day. In the end this won’t come unnoticed by the people around you. As long as I have friend and family in my life I’ll be fine.
If you have to give a name to this moment of your life, how this chapter will be called?
If you could tell something to the whole world, what would it be?
Don’t worry, be happy.
