My first few days in Sydney! Travel journal by Myrthe from VDM Model Management

I have always dreamed of going to Australia. So I got super excited when my booker told me that I was going to Sydney for 6 weeks! On to a new adventure! On Sunday the 19th of July I went to the Amsterdam Airport. My super sweet friends and family were there with me to say goodbye. This is the first time that I will be from home for such a long time, and I am really going to miss them. The flight took 24 hours and I was really exhausted when we landed. But there wasn’t any time to be tired and jetlagged because I had to head to a casting and meet the agency. I am here with Priscilla’s Model Management and they are really nice!

Off to Sydney!

I am staying in an apartment with Namara (also from VDM) at Bondi Beach. I love the atmosphere here in Bondi with all the surfers and skaters. I really wanted to take my Pennyboard with me on this trip but unfortunately I couldn’t take it with me on the plane…

I am very busy with castings these first days. In the meantime I try to see as much as possible of the city. I made a bucket list of all the cool things I want to see and do here in Sydney.

The castings are in so many different places so I am traveling a lot through the city. Luckily the public transport works almost the same as in Holland. I also have Google Maps to help me out when I can’t find my way to a location!

Friday night I ate pizza with Namara in an little restaurant and after that we went to see some hotspots of Sydney by night such as the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Taking a jump into the ice water

On Saturday morning I had a shoot for RedMilk magazine and I got to work with a really great team, it was so much fun. After the shoot I went to a vintage market called ‘Glebe market’. They all had great stuff so I will definitely return there on a Saturday.

In the evening I took a swim at the ‘’Bondi Iceberg Club’’. This is a swimming pool in the sea with the most beautiful view. It is winter now in Australia, so there weren’t much people in the pool. But the people who were there, were swimming in a wet suit. I was almost the only one there in a bikini and it was so freezing cold!

I already love this city and I can’t wait to see more of it!
