Hi Spotted Style girls! Are you ready for the next hot male model? You better be because we are introducing you Adriaan de Heer from Touche Model Management! We met him between the shows of the past Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam and straight away we suspected him for being a model. It seems that our model detector was right as always because a few days later our guesses were confirmed when we saw him walking at the fashion show of the Amsterdam-based label MAYN! After talking to his booker an interview followed! Adriaan lives in Amsterdam and is modelling for Touche Models since last year. He is also represented by Independent Model Management (Italy). Something exciting coming for him this September is his trip to Milan! Besides being a model he is a passionate yachtsman and scuba diver. Read the interview with Adriaan and find out what he shared with Spotted Style about his career and life. Adriaan de Heer in the spotlight!
Hi, Adriaan! Can you introduce yourself to our Spotted Style followers?
Sure! My name is Adriaan de Heer and I am originally from Dordrecht, probably one of the most underestimated and beautiful historical cities in the Netherlands. My family still lives there so I love to stop by home if I get the chance. I have lived and studied in Utrecht for about four years before moving to Amsterdam’s busy city centre. Quite touristy and not always easy to get from A to B, but I like that there’s always something going on. Aside from modelling, I major in Human Resources Management and I have almost completed my thesis.
How long ago did you start modelling for Touche Model Management and did it change or influence your life in some way?
I started out in the fall of last year after being scouted at a hair salon (that I still frequent). I had some pictures taken and was very soon invited over to meet in person. I must admit that it can be very nice to be a little bit out in the spotlight every now and then. I definitely wasn’t always the ringleader when I was younger. I don’t believe I am right now and it’s definitely no goal of mine, but modelling for Touché did give me a nice boost. I have always been very keen on meeting new people and modelling gives you a great opportunity to meet and work with all kinds of different creative, interesting and talented individuals. I think that is another great aspect of this line of work.
Have you travelled a lot because of modelling? Where and do you have a dream destination?
I have done some direct bookings that took place a bit further from home, but the focus for me right now is at graduating. I have already booked my one way ticket to Milan in September, which will be my first on stay modelling adventure. I am incredibly psyched for that! Apart from Milan, I would absolutely love to be able to live and work in New York City for a while.
What is your favorite shoot or campaign you have done?
I think that would be a shoot I did for Bijenkorf magazine, because it was my first magazine publication with a really high circulation. Also, the photographer at this shoot was a great guy who played some of the sweetest old school hip hop tunes you will ever hear, haha!

We met you at Fashion Week Amsterdam! Which shows did you walk and how would you describe your Fashion Week experience?
I walked for MAYN, a successful starting label that had the opportunity to show at MBFWA for the second time. The designer and styling team were great to work with and the show’s music, dressing and audience made it a really nice experience. Apart from that, it was nice to mingle with the fashion crowd, have some fun and meet Doutzen Kroes while doing this.
What does it take to be successful in the modelling industry?
I would say professionalism and dedication. Even if you are just starting out like me, you always have to be professional or you will never make it big. Fashion is one of the biggest industries out there and if you don’t step your game up there is no chance you will ever reach the top. Also, I think if you’re uncertain if you really want this, or you’re in it for the wrong reasons (like money), you will probably never have a career that lasts.
Can you tell us what is the thing that you love most about being a model?
Probably, like I said, meeting all kinds of interesting people from different backgrounds and the opportunity to travel for work.
What are your hobbies and passions that keep you busy in your spare time?
Well I work out quite a lot (5-6 times a week) which, besides of course being necessary for my work, is a great outlet for me. I also love to cook and try new food and I am a staunch yachtsman and scuba diver. And travelling… I still have a million destinations I’d love to visit.
Tell us a spicy fact that we may not know about you?
My (long!) school and study track record are hard evidence of the fact that I was never a person for textbook knowledge, although I do see the necessity of a formal education! Stay in school kids 😉

What is fashion for you? If we spot you on the street what would you be wearing?
I love basic outfits with nice accessories. Plain V-neck T-shirt, nice fitting jeans and a pair of Clarks or Allstars combined with a proper watch and sunglasses that say ‘bring on the day’! If there’s ever an occasion to suit up, I love to go all the way with a pair of shiny shoes, a pochet and cufflinks.
What makes you happy and what makes you laugh?
Although I am perfectly fine spending time alone, I can really look forward to seeing someone I care about again after some time apart. My family is really important to me. Without trying to sound like a grandpa, reminiscing with longtime friends about awkward situations that took place (or creating new ones) can probably make me laugh the most.
How do you see life through your eyes?
I like to think of myself as an open minded, inquisitive and positive person. I always strive to think in possibilities and solutions and never in problems or obstacles. I might not be the most structured person out there, but I do like to question the status quo.
What does the future hold for you?
After I have dealt with the ‘graduation situation’, I am finally ready to commit myself fulltime to modelling. I take this opportunity very seriously and aim to do everything in my power to make the most out of this. I don’t own a glass sphere (nor am I a superstitious person for that matter) so follow my instagram account for more about my adventures!
If you have to give a name to this moment of your life, how will this chapter be called?
Study hell: the last bits
If you could tell something to the whole world, what would it be?
Having someone else tell you that you can’t do something (probably because they don’t have the guts themselves) is absolute bullshit. Take control!
