Can you introduce yourself to our Spotted Style followers? Who are you and how would you describe yourself?
I am Jeske van der Pal and I am 18 years old. I live in a very small village in Friesland. I would describe myself as someone who is a little bit weird and who is just doing her own thing and enjoying life.

What are you hobbies and biggest passions?
My hobbies are going to the gym and going to parties with friends. Going to the gym and partying sounds like a paradox right? Haha but I love to dance and music always makes me happy. I also love running. My biggest passion is travelling, I would like to explore the whole wide world.

When and how did you start your modelling career? Were you scouted by someone?
I was approached by Mariana Verkerk to participate in The Model Convention. I didn’t expect that I would make a change. But I thought; why not? I already have no and I can turn it into a yes. I signed a contract with an amazing agency called OMG Model Management.

Did modelling influence or change your life? If yes, in what way?
Yes it did had an influence in my life. I got the chance to travel around the world and meet people that otherwise I would have never met. I love this about modelling, meeting all those different kind of people with all their different life stories. It’s very interesting. Modelling also helped me to let go that you always have to plan things. First I was a little bit a control freak and now I learn to let this go, because with modelling you never know what kind of things will come.

What are the biggest campaigns/brands you have done and worked for?

I also signed a contract with a model agency in Vienna and there I have been in a lot of magazines. About two weeks ago I had a shooting in Ibiza and that was the shooting that impressed me the most I think. The location was amazing. Last year I travelled to Tokyo. In Tokyo I had a wedding shooting and that was also a very nice experience. I hope campaigns will be coming up soon because I studied a lot, I had to cancel some things.

Is modelling a dream come true for you?
No, I never expected that I would be a model. When I was younger I always wanted to become a famous ice speed skater and I wanted to win an Olympic medal or I wanted to become a farmer.

What does it take to be a successful model?
I think you just need to be yourself and don’t change into another personality when you start modelling. Just be who you are and be happy. Most people appreciate people who don’t want to be like everyone else and that will make you special. And of course you need to work very hard and try not to complain. Modelling is not only glitter and glamour, you have to work really hard.

How do you stay in shape and do you have beauty tips for our Spotted Style followers?
I stay in shape because I do sports a lot. My tip is to choose a sport that you like because otherwise it’s really hard to be consequent and to keep doing it. Don’t force yourself to do a sport that you don’t actually like. Having fun during your workout is the most important thing.

What do you love most about modelling?
The thing I like the most are travelling and meeting all those new interesting people, as I mentioned before.

What is fashion for you? How would you describe your own style?
Fashion was not very important for me the last years. I never have been very much into the fashion world. Honestly, I still don’t know a lot about it. Most of the time I just buy things that I like, but I get more and more interested in the world of fashion. And I do my best to buy some fashionable outfits, haha.

If we spot you on the street, what would be your daily outfit be?
A pair of jeans, a nice top combined with a leather jacket. And don’t forget the sneakers. I love them.

What is your must-have for the season?
My must have cosmetic for this season is sun cream. 😛 Because my skin is very light. When I am 10 minutes in the sun without sun cream I think I am already a tomato.

What makes you laugh and what makes you happy?
Sometimes I laugh about myself. Some self-spot is ok, right? My life is full of bloopers, for example walking against a lamp post or letting a dumbbell fall on my IPhone.
Exploring new places makes me very happy.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I watch travel documentaries and I always watch television programmes in which people who are chasing their dreams are being interviewed. I also read a lot of books. And I love Instagram.

The things that are worth fighting for are?
Fight for your dreams. When people say to you that things are impossible, show them that they aren’t. And don’t give up. Hard work pays off.

Facts that we don’t know about you?
I have a peanut butter addiction. I just grab a spoon of peanut butter and I put it on a part of a banana. I don’t mention how many pots I eat in a week and how many bananas but let’s say that it is good that I love to workout haha.

How do you imagine the future, what does it hold for you?
At this moment I really don’t know. Last couple of years I studied really hard and I gave a lot of things up because I wanted to have the highest grades and the highest education as possible. No I realise that making a big career is not the most important thing in life. I think the most important thing in life is that you are happy. And earning a lot of money shouldn’t be your prime goal in life. So whatever I am doing in the future, maybe I am studying at the university or still traveling as a model or something completely different like doing a voluntary job in the jungle, I hope that I will be happy.

If you could tell something to the whole world what it would be?
Be yourself and please don’t let the world change the way you are.
