Spotted! Nina from OMG Model Management!

Nina OMG

Some of the spotted girls from OMG Model Management are still in Milan, but before Nina Storm van Leeuwen headed to the Italian fashion capital, we met her for an interview! The 16 years old stunning brunette lives in Utrecht and last year she went to The Model Convention, where she met our friends Zia and Vincent, the owners of OMG Model Management. After many callbacks from different agencies, Nina chose to sign with OMG Model Management. Now she is in her 5th year of high school, so one more to go. We are very curious which way she will take after she finishes her education but taking in mind her hard working personality and determination, we are sure that it will be in direction to the top! Read more about Nina’s lifestyle and follow her on Spotted Style for more news!

Nina Storm

Can you introduce yourself to our Spotted Style followers? Who are you and how would you describe yourself?
My name is Nina and I live in Utrecht with my parents and my 2 sisters. I am a hard working, happy and organized person.

What are your hobbies and biggest passions?
I love cooking and dining with my friends and family. I also like going out with my friends. Travelling is one of my passions. It’s great to meet new people and to get inspired by other cultures.

When and how did you start your modelling career? Were you scouted by somebody?
Last year in June I went to The Model Convention in Rotterdam. I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet a great selection of international model agencies in one day. It turned out very well. I was invited to meet the scouts of seven internationally well known agencies and got invited to meet with some of them again after The Model Convention. After several meetings I decided to sign with OMG Model Management.

Did modelling influence or change your life? If yes, in what way?
Yes, it did! Before I started modelling most of my activities where home based in The Nederlands. Now I’m travelling more often while I am starting up my modelling career. Another change is that I recently had to quit playing field hockey which I absolutely love to do. It was just too much of a risk to keep on playing because of injuries. Now I am focusing on fitness and I like doing my workouts.

Have you ever dreamed to be a model?
When I was a little child I already joined my mother to photo shoots. She worked as a model for a long time and in several campaigns I was in the pictures too. Being a model was not a dream but more something I knew I could do if I would meet the requirements. This last year I realized it would really be great if I could start a career as a model. However finishing my high school is very important. I like to finish what I have started! Then I can pursue my modelling career.

Shooting time

What does it have to take to be a successful model?
To become a successful model you have to be willing to work hard, make long hours and travel while other people are at home with family or spending time with friends. You have to keep your body in shape by eating healthy, working out and getting enough sleep. Also very important is to be nice to people you work with.
How do you stay in shape and do you have beauty tips for our Spotted Style followers?
With a great group of friends I am working out in a great sport club. I do a mix of fitness and boxing. Our trainer also teaches us how to defend ourselves in threatening situations. That comes in very handy when I am travelling around the world on my own!

Any beauty tips?
I just love the Dutch brand Biodermal PCLE cream. It soothes my skin when irritated and makes it nice and smooth. I always wear sunscreen.

Well balanced meals with lots of vegetables, green tea and our Dutch traditional slice of bread with Gouda cheese keep me fit and work for my skin. I don’t do crash diets. I think those diets are not good for you. I just enjoy a healthy life style and love fries or cake every now and then!

One thing that you love most about modelling?
I love going to new countries, meeting people and taking beautiful pictures.

What is fashion for you? How would you describe your own style?
Up till now my style is casual/basic. I am sure I will develop a different style as soon as I will be surrounded by a lot of fashion!

If we spot you randomly on the street, what would be your daily outfit?
Slim fit jeans, slim T-shirt and a cardigan or jacket. I love to walk on sneakers.

What is your must-have for the season?
Nice summer dresses.

Fashion/ beauty icon that you admire?
Lily Aldrige

What makes you laugh and what makes you happy?
My friends and my sisters make me laugh a lot! Spending time with great people makes me happy. The sun also makes me happy!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Reading magazines, blogs or watching fashion shows online!
There are some great Dutch models out there who are a great inspiration for me.

How do you see life through your eyes?
My life is a happy life which is still very structured but ask me in a year and I think the picture is completely different!

What is the most important lesson you have learnt until now from the school of life?
You have to be in charge of your own success and work hard to make your dreams come true.

The things that are worth fighting for are?
Family, friends and my own happiness!
