Can you introduce yourself to our Spotted Style followers? Who are you and how would you describe yourself?
Ciao! I’m Silke Hajunga from the Netherlands, I’m 18 years old and now working as a fulltime model. I would describe myself as a disciplined, hardworking, happy & positive girl.
What are you hobbies and biggest passions?
Sport is my biggest hobby, it gives me a very good feeling and it keeps me going to reach my goal.
I like to walk in the forest with my dog, and in the summer I love to skim board on the beach.
My biggest passion is modelling and deep sea diving. I started diving when I was 11 in Dahab, Egypt, the most beautiful place I’ve been to so far. The sea is so gorgeous with all the colourful fish and coral, I would love to buy a house there someday, and live near my aunt.
When and how you started your modelling career? Were you scouted by somebody?
A photographer, Cristian Davila Hernandez, who works sometimes with Future Faces, scouted me on social media. After a shoot with him he couldn’t believe that I didn’t have an agency, so he introduced me to Future Faces. They were interested in me right away. So after half a year of working out & eating healthy I became a model at Future Faces.
Did modelling influence or change your life? If yes, in what way?
First I applied for a science study at the University but my dream job was modelling.
So to find out if there was any interest in me as a model, I went to The Model Convention.
That opened my eyes, because I had the most call-backs from the agencies from all the people there. I was so happy!
So I quit my study and focus on the modelling.
So modelling changed my life in a positive way. I have a very healthy and sporty lifestyle now, and I’m very glad that I took this chance.
Are you doing catwalks? Have you walked a show for Fashion week?
Yes, they immediately sent me to Milano. There I did the shows of Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani for the winter/fall collection of 2015/2016.
This was amazing and the start of my career.
What are the biggest campaigns/brands you have done and worked for?
The biggest brands I worked for are Giorgio Armani & Emporio Armani.
Have you ever dreamed to be a model?
Yes, modelling came into my life when I was 14. I really liked it and my dream was to become a model. My dream came true, and now I’m doing what I love.
What does it takes to be a successful model?
You have to work very hard ( sports) and therefore you need much perseverance to keep on going, even in difficult times.
One thing that you love most about modelling?
The unexpected, everything can happen any moment. One moment you are at home, and the next moment you can get a call that you have to be in Milano for an assignment the next day!
So therefore you always have to be ready to go on a new adventure. And that’s what I love, all the travelling and adventure, that no one can take away from me.
What is fashion for you? How would you describe your own style?
Fashion is a certain style of a person. It can be distinctive or habitual, but everybody has his own style.
My style is in three words chique, fitted & rock ‘n roll
If we spot you randomly on the street, what would be your daily outfit?
You’ll spot me with my dark high waisted jeans then. I love high waisted jeans, it’s much more comfortable and feminine.
With my jeans I’ll wear my dark blue Emporio Armani sweater, which I got as a gift after the Emporio Armani show, and over the sweater a black leather jacket. Also I would wear my Italian Brogue shoes, with a shoe sole like Dr. Martens to make it also sturdy and not to chique.
What is your must-have for the season?
Brogue shoes! I wanted them so bad for this season, and when I got to Milano, I bought them immediately. I’m so happy with these shoes, so I walked to all the castings with these shoes.
Favourite beauty product?
Concealer. When you’ve a bit of puffiness through to less sleep, just a bit concealer under your eyes and nobody will see it
Fashion/ beauty icon that you admire?
Julia van Os, how many shows she did this fashion week, fall/winter 2015, is incredible! This was her first fashion week, and popped in New York, Milan and Paris! She fully developed herself as a top girl and I’m really proud of her.
What makes you laugh and what makes you happy?
My dad, he’s also my best friend. We’re doing many things together, and if we’re going somewhere it’s always great fun and we laugh a lot. So my dad makes me happy, and I wouldn’t know what I would do without him!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
The most inspiration I get from the accounts I follow on Instagram. It’s up to date and with many beautiful new pictures where I get my inspiration from.
How do you see life through your eyes?
As one big adventure!
The things that are worth fighting for are?
Your dream job, your reputation, and the person you love.
There are millions of girls with the same aspiration as me, to become a model. I worked very hard for it, and fought for my dream job. I made that dream come true, and now I’m fighting for my reputation. I’ll make the best out of my model career, and I hope that people will remember me.
