Describe yourself with a few words:
I’m a very down to earth girl. I’m always trying to make the most out of my life; in my personal life and in my career as a model.
What are you hobbies and biggest passions?
Since I travel quite a lot I love just to be around my boyfriend, my friends and my family. What I really enjoy is spending my weekends in Amsterdam, strolling around, having coffee or a nice lunch. Oh and I enjoy cooking!
When and how you started your modelling career? Were you scouted by somebody?
I started modelling in 2010. I met Jeroen van de Mast, owner of VDM Models, in Amsterdam and asked me if I was interested in modelling. I was studying at that time, but I’ve always been interested in the industry so Jeroen and I had a coffee and signed me at his agency.
Did modelling influence or change your life? If yes, how?
Modelling both influenced and changed my life. Before I started modelling I travelled, but only for holidays and always with family, friends or my boyfriend. When you are a model you really learn to be alone; travel alone, sleep alone, eat alone, explore the city alone. I had to get used to that, but now I really enjoy it and see every trip as a new adventure.
Are you doing catwalks?
Yes, sometimes I do but I enjoy shoots more than walking the runway.
What are the biggest campaigns/brands you have done and worked for?
I’ve worked for a.o. Gstar and Nike.
Have you dreamed to be a model?
When I was a kid I always looked up to models, and when I was a teenager me and my friends would always shoot eachother after school, so yeah, I guess I kind of wanted to be a model.
One thing that you love most about modelling?
The fact that you never know what’s going to happen; are you working? If yes, where are you working, who are you working with, what brand, what city… There are always new people and a new environment. A working day is never the same.
What is fashion for you? How would you describe your own style?
Fashion makes the world and people more fun and interesting. I think the way one dresses says a lot about that person. I would describe my own style as casual chic; it sounds weird but most of the times I don’t really like to dress up. It’s always about my looks and sometimes I’m just sick of looking in the mirror, and then I just don’t and I’ll wear my favourite jeans with a shirt. I like simplicity and usually I wear clothing from Scandinavian brands. I rather have a couple of good pieces in my closet which go never out of style and I can always wear, like a good black bag, a nice blazer, a leather jacket, a good pair of high heels and jeans.
What is your musthave for the season?
Hmm…. I guess a new pair of Nike OG’s for summer. Looks awesome and sooo comfy.
Fashion/ beauty icon that you admire?
I love Victoria Beckham’s and Kate Moss’ style.
A fact about you that we don’t know?
I think I’m quite a good cook!
What makes you laugh and what makes you happy?
My cat very often makes me laugh, he’s just so curious and clumsy, haha. My boyfriend makes me very happy.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I would say from work and social media. All the people like photographers and stylists are always very creative and that inspires me or brings me ideas.
How do you see Life through your eyes?
I think in life anything can happen, you never know what the next day, or even hour or minute will bring you. Never take your loved ones for granted.
The things that are worth fighting for are?
Freedom, family and happiness.
3songs from your playlist
Prince – Nothing compares 2 u
Pink Floyd – Wish you were here
Jay-Z – U don’t know (remix)
5facts that we don’t know about you?
I’m engaged! Besides that I have a masters degree in Forensic Psychology, I wrote a book, I love watching tv in bed and I just love my hair getting blow dried…
How do you imagine the future, what does it hold for you?
As I said before in this interview, I think anything can happen in life. I would be a very lucky girl if I live a life where I’m healthy and I’m happy with my husband.
If you could tell something to the whole world what it would be?
Every day, realize and be aware of the good and fortunate things in your life. Love people and tell them you do.
