Introduce yourself with a few words? Who are you?
My name is Stijn van Dongen. I live in Amsterdam and I am 23 years old.

What are you hobbies and biggest passions?
My hobbies are fitness and soccer. I like to go out with friends for some nice food and drinks and of course occasionally a party 😉 Furthermore, one of my biggest passions is traveling.

When and how you started your modelling career? Were you scouted by somebody?
I started my modelling career when I was 20. I was scouted on the streets in Amsterdam by one of the modelling scouts from the agency De Boekers.

Did modelling influence or change your life? If yes, how?
Not very much. Actually I already took good care of myself by eating healthy, and going regular to the Gym! The only two aspects which had influence on my life by doing modelling, was that Iam able to travel more, and of course the financial aspect of working as a model influenced me life, since I earned more and therefore, I spend sometimes a bit more 😉

What is fashion for you? How would you describe your personal style? Where do you pull your inspiration from?
To be honest fashion is not really my thing. I just pick clothes that I like! Sometimes expensive brands and sometimes cheap ones. As long as they fit well and I like them, I am happy.

Do you get to travel a lot for your work? If so what’s your favourite city that you have visited? Do you have a dream destination?
Yes, I do mainly in Europe where I work also for other agencies. But my favorite city that I have visited is New York. This is where I would like to work full-time, if this is ever possible! Fingers crossed!

Give us 5 facts about you people may not know.
I can give 1 fact, which many close related people of me know, but not in modelling scène.
Before I started working as a model I was “a really fat guy’’. I was overweighed my whole life and by the age of 19 I weighted 117 KG, which was no muscle, but fat.
I decided to change my life drastically since I knew this was not healthy and I had to change something. I took a 1-year contract at a gym in Amsterdam. This was the new start for me!
I LOST 56 KG of fat in 8 MONTHS, by going everyday to the gym and only what my diet prescribed. After this achievement I felt great and I wanted more, now was the goal not to loose fat since I already lost everything, but instead I started to build muscle in order to look even more aesthetic, which I still do now. But not too much just good for modelling.
The funny thing is that people and I also noticed that by going through this weight loss I discovered that underneath l the fat I actually was a “good-looking guy”.
And when I was 20, which was one year after my start I looked fit good and suddenly I was asked on the streets in Amsterdam if I wanted to become a model, since they saw potential in me. Of course I said yes, since I wanted to try it and It worked out pretty well, but in the first year of doing this work, I saw every booking as a present and not as work, since I still couldn’t understand that I was now paid for my looks and one year before that I was wearing size XXXL of t-shirts. This is one fact that the closest people around me know since my transformation is obvious, but many other’s don’t know this, and I am happy to share it. I am super PROUD of my achievement, which is mainly because I NEVER GIVE UP and I hope other people can learn from this, since determination for something can bring you much further then most people think!

see the before and after photos:

What are your top priorities? What keeps you going?
My top priorities are staying healthy, take good care of myself and the people around me.

Define happiness. What makes you laugh and what makes you happy?
Happiness is for me achieving goals that I have set for myself and celebrate them with friends. And if I don’t achieve my goals, I will go on until I do! Happiness for me is that my whole family and friends are together and everybody is happy and enjoying a good time together.

How do you see Life through your eyes?
Optimistic, full of curiousness of what the future will bring. I still want to see so much of world. Each time I come back from a trip from another country, if it is for or a holiday or work-related, I am already thinking of what other parts of the world look like and what my next destination will be! 

3 songs from your playlist?

Eminem- Till I collapse ( for the gym 😉 )
Bob Marley- One Love
And many: Deep house/Techno songs

If you could tell something to the whole world what it would be?
Never give up your dreams, there is always a path which can lead you to achieving it. You just have to keep on working and searching, which will finally make your dreams come true! And if not, then it’s no problem, since everything happens for a reason and at least you can’t regret that you didn’t put the maximum effort in it. And this will be one thing for sure that you should be proud of!
